What's in this release
Since 2026.8.2 (27 August), sprints 124–134 close the this-run path and the CaC write. Agents can bind the AAP project that is the git remote, confirm-sync Controller after a human push, inspect what a job template will ask, then launch with a per-run host limit, variables, or listed inventory and credential ids. Crane apply moves from the SPA wizard onto MCP with the same confirm and typed-import bar. Launch, Crane writes, cancel, relaunch, project sync, and apply stay HIGH_IMPACT with confirm:true. Public POST /aap/launch is still gone. The web UI still does not launch jobs.

Default Skill ide_ticket_to_playbook still does not launch. Opt-in ide_ticket_to_job_run inspects, then confirm-launches.

Who should take it
Current subscribers. Take the 2026.9.0 bundle — there is no separate upgrade SKU.
- IDE operators who launch after generate/push: restart MCP so bind, confirm-sync, launch-config, and this-run overrides appear.
- Crane operators who apply a packaged
cac/tree: SPA Apply + compare shipped in 124–125; MCP apply + job-wait shipped in 130–132. - Installers on hardened Ubuntu (or firewalld stacked with UFW): take 126–127 playbook fixes; still size for 16 / 32 GiB.
Notes
Match 2026.9.0 on the appliance About screen. Do not invent a SemVer alias for this drop. Kit CalVer and backlogzero-mcp-server must match About.
- Launch, Crane writes, cancel, relaunch, project sync, collection-docs add, and apply remain policy +
confirm:true. The web UI still does not launch jobs. - Tokens stay out of MCP payloads. Credential browse stays name and id only. Launch does not accept
credential_passwordsor token-like extra_vars keys. - Empty launch overrides are still valid (today's default). Inspect is READ: Controller down is soft-down and does not invent a launchable config.
- Ad-hoc SPA generate is not a GitHub path and is not an MCP create-task tool.
- Knowledge authoring CMS, generic ingest-as-MCP, and MCP create-task stay out.
