What's in this release

Since 2026.8.1 (19 August), sprints 112–123 close the IDE operator loop first, then bring the SPA and the shipped model set forward. Agents can run ticket → playbook → job template without guessing, then recover when a run goes wrong. Launch, Crane writes, cancel, and relaunch stay HIGH_IMPACT with confirm:true. Public POST /aap/launch is still gone.

MCP operator loop

SprintWhat shipped
112ITSM naming: post_itsm_transition, plus get_effective_settings (Jira vs ServiceNow, no secrets).
113See the ticket and AAP: task details, sources, projects, job templates, Controller deep links.
114Closed-loop observe: get_aap_job, bounded stdout, hoisted job_id / job_ui_url, Skill wait for a terminal outcome.
117Write the outcome back: job comment, optional named transition, MCP post_validate_playbook.
118Confirm-gated Crane export, sync, and Auto-Sync bind. Tokens stay off MCP.
119Confirm-gated cancel / relaunch, connectivity + license snapshot, ide_job_recover.
120Browse inventories, credentials, orgs, and execution environments before job-template create (credentials are name + id only).

Demos for the look-first and recover slices: See the ticket, see AAP, From the IDE, cancel or relaunch the job. Naming context: Agents that know Jira from ServiceNow.

PAT and transport: MCP quickstart. After you take the update, fully restart the IDE MCP process so the tool list refreshes.

AWX as a peer

Copy and Crane treat AWX as a peer. Routes and MCP names stay aap_* — this is not a contract rename.

SprintWhat shipped
115One SPA image labels AAP or AWX from /app-info.
116Experimental Crane AWX 24.x source and target (AWX ↔ AAP 2.6, plus 2.4 → AWX). AAP 2.6 remains the documented golden path.

See Crane can export from AWX and the Crane product page.

SPA and appliance

SprintWhat shipped
121Create new playbook… above the task list. Unchecked generates from typed text (ad-hoc; GitHub / AAP stay gated). Checked creates a task in the default ITSM project.
122App and appliance default to qwen2.5-coder:7b (~10s generate). deepseek-coder-v2:lite stays as the second pull. Gemma 4 and CodeLlama left the shipped set. 16 / 32 GiB guidance is unchanged.
123Generated YAML keeps # Summary: / # Description: (or # Prompt: for ad-hoc). Admins can Skip setup on first-run without all five health checks.

Demo: Generate a playbook, with or without a ticket. Signed-in tour: UI features. Refresh the web UI after the update so the field appears.

Who should take it

Current subscribers. Take the 2026.8.2 bundle — there is no separate upgrade SKU.

  • IDE operators who generate from tickets: restart MCP so 113–120 tools and recover appear.
  • SPA operators who want to type work before it is a ticket: refresh Playbook Review for Create new playbook….
  • AWX labs using Crane: AWX 24.x export/apply stays experimental; AAP 2.6 is still the golden path.

Notes

Match 2026.8.2 on the appliance About screen. Do not invent a SemVer alias for this drop.

  • Launch, Crane writes, cancel, and relaunch remain policy + confirm:true. The web UI still does not launch jobs.
  • Tokens stay out of MCP payloads. Credential browse returns name and id only.
  • Ad-hoc SPA generate is not a GitHub path and is not an MCP create-task tool.
  • Memory sizing (16 / 32 GiB) is unchanged with the new default model.

Available to customers

Included for current subscribers. Take the 2026.8.2 appliance update, then fully restart the IDE MCP process and refresh the web UI.
